Commercial Pesticide Applicators

Upper Michigan Land Management foresters are State of Michigan licensed Commercial Pesticide Applicators.  This allows our foresters to legally apply certain herbicides on lands scheduled for tree plantings and reforestation projects.  Upper Michigan Land Management is licensed under Category 2.

Year after year, thousands of acres of abandoned agricultural lands are reforested into timber production which provides tree planting jobs in the short-term and timber management jobs in the long-term.  Trees improve environmental conditions through the removal of carbon dioxide or carbon sequestration while adding oxygen to our atmosphere. 

Commercial Pesticide Applicator Definition

The Michigan Department of Agriculture defines a Commercial Pesticide Applicator as a person who is required to obtain pesticide applicator certification credentials from the State of Michigan , who uses or supervises the use of a restricted use pesticide or holds himself or herself out to the public as being in the business of applying pesticides.

Category 2:  Pest Management includes forests, forest nurseries and forest seed producing areas, Christmas trees and gypsy moth.
